NRA TRAINING

Curios & Relics Company offers a variety of firearms training programs.   Our training programs are conducted by Sergio Calzado, NRA Certified Instructor.  Each training course is specifically designed to teach you how to handle, operate and enjoy your firearm safely.  Whether you just purchased your first firearm, are looking to improve your marksmanship skills, our goal is to help you succeed.   Our courses are offered both in a group format or on a private individual basis.  We will work around your schedule, our courses are offered at our training facility or at your home - you choose.  All of our courses are taught by certified instructors where Safety is our number one concern.

Successful completion of certain of these these courses will satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Concealed Weapons or Firearms License.  Those that do fullfil the requirement will be highlighted in blue, those that do not will be highlighted in red.

NRA Courses Offered:

NRA HOME FIREARM SAFETY ORIENTATION

  • Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.
  • This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports.
  • Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate.
  • Does not satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Department of Agriculture Concealed Weapons or Firearms License.
NRA FIRST STEPS PISTOL ORIENTATION

  • NRA First Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students.
  • This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type.
  • Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
  • Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.
  • Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearms License.
NRA BASIC PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE

  • NRA Basic Pistol course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.
  • Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
  • Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
  • Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearms License.
NRA FIRST STEPS RIFLE ORIENTATION

  • NRA First Steps Rifle course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific rifle action type for classes of four or fewer students.
  • This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific rifle action type.
  • Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular rifle model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the rifle; and continued opportunities for skill development.
  • Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.
  • Does not satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Department of Agriculture Concealed Weapons or Firearms License.

NRA BASIC RIFLE SHOOTING COURSE

  • NRA Basic Rifle course is at least 14 hours long (divided in 2 sessions) and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles.
  • Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.
  • Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
  • Does not satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Department of Agriculture Concealed Weapons or Firearms License.

NRA FIRST STEPS SHOTGUN ORIENTATION

  • NRA First Steps Shotgun course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific shotgun model.
  • This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific model shotgun at a moving target.
  • Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular shotgun model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the shotgun; and continued opportunities for skill development.
  • Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.
  • Does not satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Department of Agriculture Concealed Weapons or Firearms License.

NRA BASIC SHOTGUN SHOOTING COURSE

  • NRA Basic Shotgun course is at least ten-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. (The course will be divided into 2 sessions, course work & range time)
  • Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.
  • Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
  • Does not satisfy the training requirements necessary to obtain a State of Florida Department of Agriculture Concealed Weapons or Firearms License.
